WHAT'S NOUS // Laura Evans x L’Officiel Beauty Editorial shot by Dorit Thies

L’Officiel Baltics’ December issue ~ on stands now ~ features the stunning Nous Model Laura Evans, The beauty editorial is shot (and styled) by Dorit Thies – an absolute photo wizard when it comes to beauty and hair photography. Dorit’s work in this editorial is a prime example of her portfolio of strikingly detailed and conceptual compositions. #NousModels just love working with her!

We’re also absolutely loving the makeup used in this shoot. Makeup artist, Noel Nichols, used Hourglass Cosmetic’s Intensity Lipstick to get that saturated, long-wearing lip color with a satin finish.

2.) What’s your age and where are you from?:

17 years old from Phoenix, AZ

3.) Do you have a book that changed your life?:

Yes, the name of the book is How Joyful People Think. My pastor at my church, Scottsdale Bible Church, wrote it. The material discussed in this book has helped me learn how to live a happier more flourishing life. I 12/10 recommend to anyone and everyone

4.) What inspired you the most?:

My goals and aspirations inspire me the most. Without the goals and aspirations I have for myself in the future I wouldn’t have anything to strive towards.

5.) If you needed one, what would your DJ name be?:

So there’s a funny story behind this question. The Thursday night before Black Friday my junior year of high school me and my friend were staying up all night to go Black Friday shopping the next day and beat the line at the malls! So we resorted to some crazy ideas to keep us awake, and by that I mean I turned my room into a concert area and I became “DJ VIC” until 5am. The videos are what really make the story though!

6.) What’s your favorite punctuation mark?:

My favorite punctuation mark is “!” I think it’s so cute and such a happy punctuation mark! Plus it always makes sentences better when u cluster them at the end of a sentence like this “!!!” !!

7.) When you eat a pack of skittles, do you save the best flavors for last? Or eat them first?:

I only eat my favorite ones which are the red!!

8.) What is your favorite 90s/2000s Jam?:

I don’t think I can pick just one song I love 90s/2000s music! I have a playlist full of songs just from that time period!!

9.) How do you kick back and relax?:

have a chill day, I light a candle do a face mask and read a book or watch movies and eat 🙂

Hard cover books and the old classic converse that are an off-white color!

12.) Do you have any mottos you live by? :

I have so many! My absolute favorite would have to be “kill them with kindness” my Paps (grandfather) and my mom have always said this phrase to me ever since kindergarten. When people were being mean to me it was always “kill them with kindness” or “take the high road” and it was probably some of the best advice I have ever received because in the end being the bigger person is always the better option. You never know why people treat you the way they do and sometimes the ones who are the most bitter are going through hardships in life and they need someone to embrace them and be kind towards them. Also, if someone is being unkind and disrespectful towards you, you should still be kind and respectful towards them because how you react to a situation is a reflection of your character not theirs.

I am from Buffalo, New York.

4. What inspired you the most?:

Without a doubt, my parents. They are the most hardworking people that would do anything for the people they love. Their constant support and encouragement never goes unnoticed. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without them, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to call them my parents.

5. Which superpower would you want?:

I would want to be able to fly so I could be anywhere at anytime! And no more traffic!

Surprisingly, under my bed is spotless. When i was younger, I would just shove things under my bed to make my room look clean, but I’ve eventually grew out of that phase and started to actually clean my room instead of just rearranging things.

7. What’s your guilty pleasure?:

My guilty pleasure would be getting into a nice cozy pair of sweatpants and a big sweatshirt just to snuggle up in my bed to binge watch Netflix.

0. And I’m not planning on it! Jinx.

9. Where would you take your dream vacation?:

I would love to go to Bora Bora. I’ve only seen pictures of it but I’ve never seen a bad looking one!

My favorite movie would have to be Soul Surfer with AnnaSophia Robb. The determination and courage portrayed throughout the movie just put me in my feels and i loved the movie ever since my first time seeing it!

SHE'S NOUS // Meet BreAnna Young

She’s so Nous! Meet BreAnna ~

1. Name?:

BreAnna Caroline Young.

2. Where are you from?:

Dallas, Texas.

4. Do you have a book that changed your life?:

A book that has changed my life has most definitely been the Harry Potter series as a whole. I read them all twice and when I was a child I would go to midnight book releases with my siblings. I just thought it was the most magical time!

5. What inspires you the most?:

My mother and father inspire me to love and lift others as I have watched them raise me and my six brothers and sisters supporting us at our good and bad times always.

6. What’s been your greatest achievement (so far)?:

My greatest achievement that I never knew I wanted to achieve in life is motherhood. Every day, I am able to learn more about myself that I never knew was possible. It’s like the gift that keeps on enriching my soul, watching my six-year-old son grow.

7. What’s your guilty pleasure?:

I thoroughly enjoy my Costco membership at peak sample hours.

8. Have you ever pranked called someone?:

One time in my childhood, I was playing an online game, Neopets. When I spun the wheel of fortune, I landed on 10,000 neopoints and out of excitement (?), I called 9-1-1 and hung up…..not knowing later they would show up to my house and have my parents answer the door.

9. What food will you absolutely not, under any circumstances, eat?:

I am a human garbage disposal! I eat absolutely everything. Case closed.

10. What makes you feel nostalgic?

My journal makes me feel nostalgic. I have been writing in it ever since I had only little to say, such as: “hi it is this time. Okay, sleep good self.” 😆

11. Have you overcome one of your fears?:

I always told myself (due to being exposed to Jaws prematurely by my five older siblings) I would never surf, but as I can be quite the daredevil and having since moved out to LA – I tried it. I got up on the board my first try, and now I can’t wait to continue learning!

12. What’s the most embarrassing trend that you gave into?:

OVER PLUCKING MY EYEBROWS! I trust nobody before 2010, but thankfully had a unibrow as a child so they grew back fine, haha.

13. What are you most proud of?:

I am most proud of my son. Being a single mother, I was always worried that this would negatively affect him. However, I am proud to say that he is the most amazing and special little human that I have ever set my eyes on.
