Don’t envision yourself cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway with your hair blowing in the wind anytime soon? Not to worry: all your West Coast desires will be fulfilled when you watch this adorably awesome video starring Faith Picozzi and her boyfriend Filip, shot and directed by photographer extraordinaire John Huba. Based in New York and repped by Elyse Connolly, John recently escaped the East Coast chill to warm up by shooting alongside the California coast, and we really can’t blame him. Watch as the real life couple drive down the coastline with the top down in a convertible Mini Cooper, frolic along Venice Beach trying on heart-shaped sunnies, and eat sweet potato french fries by the beach – all while the sweet, melodic voices of The Everly Brothers’s “I Kissed You” play in the background. (Swoon). Just a forewarning, though, we’re already experiencing major FOMO – and we actually live in LA.
Most, if not all, photographers we love have a signature style. Dana Pennington is no exception – his shots stand out for their uniqueness in terms of light and contrast. From serene gardens to edgy alleyways to even a simple room, his backdrops always seem to make for captivating canvases on which our girls stand out. We love the way he illuminates each model in his shots, immediately drawing the audience’s eye on them. Check out some of our favorites below. Thank you, Dana for your awe-inspiring work!

Obviously, we could never come close to replicating the iconic work of Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition. Idolized by girls and guys alike (understandably), the SI Swim covers have long been a coveted spot for aspiring models worldwide. So, we decided to make this dream come true for a handful of the lovely ladies of Nous Models in an exclusive photoshoot for Nous Zine titled – what else – Nous Illustrated!
As a token of our love and appreciation for the famous SI Swim signature looks, Nous Illustrated is a fun expression of the growing talent here at Nous Models that we are amazed by every day. Captured by one of our favorite photographers Bogdan Morozovskiy, this featurette aims to inspire you to go for the gold. We hope you love it as much as we do!
On a sunny SoCal day, Davia Gomez visited Nous Models HQ to talk all things Hurley. Dressed in a short Forever 21 frock and adorable booties, the average passerby might be surprised to discover that this seemingly girly-girl is the face of Hurley, a household name among surfers and skateboarders. But as any good story begins, there’s more than meets the eye. Find out how this brand became one of her favorites as Davia spills the deets on why she loves Hurley.
“They are like family,” she says of the Costa Mesa-based brand. A born-and-raised California girl herself, Davia’s father was one of the original founders of Hurley (NBD), and her brother and boyfriend now also call it home. “Both of them work there!” she exclaims with a smile on her face as she describes a typical visit to Hurley offices. “Everyone is so laid back, kind, and down-to-earth. My boss, Riana, is like a sister to me.” On set, Davia says she feels just as much love. “The photographer is really cool, he’s so fun to shoot with,” she shares of the talented Derek Bahn, whose resume is chock-full of mega beach babes – we’re only fangirling a little. Promise.
Thanks in part to that homey-vibe, it’s easy to tell that Davia has a deep connection to Hurley. Starting at a young age with the Hurley Girls line, Davia has literally grown up in and around Hurley, eventually moving on to active wear and finally swim. In addition to getting first picks on some of the best new bikinis, Davia has an insider’s knowledge on the clothing itself. “Everything is really well-made. They use such great material.” One of Davia’s favorite picks: this leather jacket, which we immediately envisioned ourselves adventuring around town in. As for the scoop on swimwear, Davia says the options are endless (which is good news for your spring break packing list. Just saying. We don’t believe in coincidences.)
We could talk clothes for hours, naturally, but when asked how she would describe Hurley in one word, Davia chose the word creative. “They have an amazingly talented team.” She raves about the Hurley Women’s clothing designers Tanya and Natasha, who help style Davia on shoots. Davia also believes Hurley is ahead of the activewear game when it comes to art and photography. We even learned that the brand was recently featured in Japanese Vogue, and that’s something few active lines can say they’ve accomplished.
Davia was literally born to be the face of Hurley, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for their future. In the mean time, you’ll find Davia traveling along the California coastline going to and from Hurley events and being a part of the brand that she loves and has become her family. It’s nice to see that the ultimate beach babe keeps her feet on the ground – or in this case, the sand.
In the dead of winter- is there a better way to pass the time than to dream of summer? In your day dreaming endeavors… we’ve got the best of the best inspiration for you: a batch of some of our all-time favorite swim looks!
Capturing golden hour – that delicate time frame just after a sunrise or before a sunset – is not an easy feat. Fortunately, we can rely upon one of the best in the game, Steve Fan, to do it for us! Steve’s shots are among the most beautiful as they get, and his technique for lighting leaves us mesmerized. On top of that, his personality is equally as golden; our models continually rave about his down-to-earth nature and great directional advice, making him a favorite to work with.
Scroll through to see all the gorgeous looks of Alex, Bridget, Polina and Taylor as they are transformed into radiant silhouettes amongst soft meadows and edgy coastlines. Thank you, Steve for your stunning creations!
Getting caught in the rain, missing a new episode of Glee, not being born a Kardashian: these are things (we’d like to think) are out of our control. Something that’s not: having a camera-ready complexion.
A healthy glow may be the last thing on your mind in the cold winter months. But if you think that wintertime gives you a free pass when it comes to the clear skin department, think again! As a model knows best, you can’t hide under a hat or behind a pair of aviators when it’s time for a photoshoot on, say, the beach. And who wants to turn down a chance to spend some time behind the lens in the sand and sun?
Our girls Sydney Schafer and Sakura looked (in the words of Queen Bey) flawless in their recent tropical shoot with one of our favorite photographer duos, Melis and Dainon. Aside from having a top-notch photography team on their side, what’s their secret? It lies in the skin care! In the interest of shopping local, all of our featured products have been selected from LA-based spa and skincare brand, Ole Henriksen.
For a girl on the go it’s important to find products that fit easily into your routine. Since we love all of you so much, we’ve decided to give you the ultimate cheat sheet to achieving enviable skin. Start now, and come spring break, you won’t even be needing an Instagram filter to look your best.
Starting your day off right is essential – you’ve got your O.J., your egg white omelette, and your pump up Katy Perry playlist on repeat. Add in an exfoliating face scrub to your morning routine and you’ll come to class feeling like a rockstar yourself. Our favorites are the Walnut Complexion Scrub and Rub N’ Buff Salt Scrub.
A day in the life of a model is never boring; sometimes, you’ll wake up at home and be in a new time zone by dinner time. To keep travel light without having to sacrifice your skin, try throwing in the Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths, which will fit perfectly in your carry-on. When you land, spray on some refreshing Cucumber Face Mist to refresh and revitalize (and combat the jet lag).
Move over Starbucks latte; it’s time to make room for a new afternoon essential. A face tonic is a must-have after a morning or midday workout, which oftentimes leaves our pores clogged and looking dirty. This face tonic is grease-free (score!) and will leave you feeling renewed, replenished and ready to tackle the second half of your day with ease.
Bedtime is the most crucial time for getting your skin in check. Unwind after a long day with a lavender body oil – a scent that has been proven to increase relaxation and improve sleep (see ya later, insomnia). Then, apply an Invigorating Overnight Treatment to do some repair work for you, while you catch some Zzzs.
A favorite photographer among our models- and all of us here at Nous HQ- is the one and only Lucas Passmore. His photos are unmistakable: think simple, vulnerable and tastefully sexy all at the same time, which is no small achievement! A master at bringing out the strongest attributes and fierce confidence of every girl he works with, when he’s not testing you can find Lucas shooting for some of our favorite brands like Rails and Chloe Oliver or on the pages of magazines like Bisous, Angeleno, Cosmo or even Maxim!
Lucas’s funny, vibrant and energetic personality is incredibly infectious to everyone around him – ironically, it’s kind of a contrast to his sultry photography style. His ability to capture beauty in it’s most pure form continues to amaze us, so we can easily say that our obsession with Lucas isn’t ending anytime soon (but, we’re more than okay with that).
Thank you Lucas! You have taught our girls so much and provided them with valuable experience that has helped them be the successful women that they are today. We’ve seriously enjoyed the past few years of working with you, and are looking forward to many more to come.
