Beauty. It’s so much more than just a pretty face, especially when it comes to the world of beauty photography! Part portrait, part fashion editorial- it’s an extremely difficult niche to master as a photographer. Not only do you have to have superior retouching skills and a keen eye for detail and editing, but you also need to have a killer makeup artist and a powerful connection with the model. A great beauty shot is something truly striking.
Jenn Collins and her arsenal of insanely talented MUAs have got all of the elements of a perfect beauty image down to a science. Time after time, Jenn and her team have demonstrated that they are some of the best artists in their field. Here are some of the highlights of their best work with Nous Models:
How old are you?
I’m 20 years old, but will still occasionally get carded at movie theaters.
Where are you from?
Tempe, Arizona — right around ASU, where I go to school!
Did you always know you wanted to model?
Absolutely not, I was so opposed to it when I was younger. I never signed or did anything modeling related until I was 18 and then it all took off.
Who are some models that you look up to? Chrissy Teigen, she’s so cute and down to earth. She’s my favorite person on Instagram because she’s so funny and always posts food related photos.
What excites you most about modeling?
It’s never the same, every day is something new which is so nice. When you get to work with and meet these amazing people, it really makes the job fun!
What’s on your iTunes right now?
Everything. I use Spotify, so literally everything. I mostly listen to a lot of Kanye, Beyonce, and John Legend but then it’ll go to Devendra Banhart, Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, etc.
What’s your favorite book?
Lately any book I’ve read for my own enjoyment has been poetry, I love Warsan Shire. I own her book, but read most of her work online.
Fun fact about yourself?
I’m a pretty decent writer, mostly for my own enjoyment but can write a pretty glorious term paper. Probably because I can write just as much as I can talk — a lot.
Your best kept beauty secret?
Icing my face, it saves my skin if I ever get a break out. I’m actually scared to touch my face, I only trust my aesthetician back home to take care of my skin and eyebrows.
How would you describe your style?
Everything in my closet is relatively similar. A lot of neutral colors, a lot of basic clothing items that fit nicely and look polished. I have more of a shopping problem with lingerie rather than real clothes. I’m very picky about what I buy and donate a lot, so I really don’t own a ton.
