Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of the summer. White tees and denim cutoffs aside, however, the traditional red, white and blue garb can sometimes make us yawn (which is exactly the opposite of the excitement we’re feeling now that barbecues, baseball and binge watching our favorite shows are now part of our schedules again). So what’s a girl to do when she wants to be comfortable enough to win the family flag football match yet cute enough to potentially bump into any non-related guests? You’ll have your answer after seeing how ah-mazing Naty looks for Windsor Store’s American Summer.
This lookbook is basically your new rulebook for how to stay festive while still looking stylish. A classic white dress, for example, is livened up with a wrap-around American flag crochet sweater that doubles as a jacket for post-firework activities. Throw on stars and stripes-style sneaks to round out the look. Not feeling girly? Embrace the tomboy feels with killer cutoffs, suede ankle boots and a fedora for an edgier appeal. And for grand finale-esque style, we’re huge fans of an Army jacket paired with a lace blouse and gladiator sandals. It’s safe to say we’ll be hiding out behind our heart-shaped stars and striped colored glasses all summer long.

Obviously, we could never come close to replicating the iconic work of Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Edition. Idolized by girls and guys alike (understandably), the SI Swim covers have long been a coveted spot for aspiring models worldwide. So, we decided to make this dream come true for a handful of the lovely ladies of Nous Models in an exclusive photoshoot for Nous Zine titled – what else – Nous Illustrated!
As a token of our love and appreciation for the famous SI Swim signature looks, Nous Illustrated is a fun expression of the growing talent here at Nous Models that we are amazed by every day. Captured by one of our favorite photographers Bogdan Morozovskiy, this featurette aims to inspire you to go for the gold. We hope you love it as much as we do!
In the dead of winter- is there a better way to pass the time than to dream of summer? In your day dreaming endeavors… we’ve got the best of the best inspiration for you: a batch of some of our all-time favorite swim looks!
Winter doesn’t officially start until December 21st. Based on the incredible fall fashion out there, we’re not giving up autumn just yet. Currently, we’re taking notes from LA-based designer Living Doll who seriously knows their stuff when it comes to sweater weather. Light layers, cozy knits and fun flannels are a few of our favorite staples that make for the perfect transition from fall to winter.
Our girls Naty and Monica made us fall in love with this fabulous and affordable brand in their new look book shoot. Relax in a “Do What Makes You Happy” graphic tee on a lazy Sunday, or rock these insanely cool “Not Your Mom’s Bells” bohemian flares for a Friday night. The fun product names are just one thing we’re obsessed with about this brand; 80% of their clothing are made with love and care right here in the US of A!
So before you trade in our ponchos for parkas, see what else we’re loving from the collection.
From being your best friend on that not-so-great hair day to helping you achieve an “it” factor that transforms an outfit, hats are essential to any model’s wardrobe. Winter months leave us feeling frizzy and freezing, so what better way to get through the day than to cozy up under a trendy wide-brim or beanie. Here’s some of our favorite headgear to get you through the winter months with ease and (and maybe a Peppermint Mocha, or two).
Nothing screams quintessential LA style more than the black wide-brimmed hat, like the ones above from LF’s “Sincerely, Skirts” lookbook. It’s the perfect staple that will liven up your wardrobe in these dreary winter months. We love the versatility of this hat; pair it with a light-wash denim jeans and flats for a quick on-the-go day look, or dress it up in a silk frock and vintage booties for a night out. Naty models the many styles of this hat in her Brandy Melville shoot, proving that it’s the perfect fit (literally, the hat is even named Naty).
If you’re a more seasoned hat veteran and are looking to get creative, try this timeless look in olive- the edgier cousin to classic black hat. Not only is this color perfect for colder months, but it’s also extremely flattering and helps liven up our slowly-fading summer complexions. Taylor pulls off the cool girl style of this look in her Brixton hat from PacSun. Can you say, obsessed?
For a cozier alternative to the wide-brim look, we love the beanie. Wear it on the subway en route to a casting call, then stash it in your bag before heading downtown with girlfriends. Bring out your playful side with these fun cat-ear beanies from PacSun. Or throw on an embroidery beanie from Brandy Melville for an instant conversation starter (or ender, depending on your mood). Regardless, you’ll be killin’ it all through the holiday season.
Ed, words can’t describe how much we love you, and love working with you. Over the last year we’ve laughed, grown, oo-ed and ah-ed at your fantastic work, and it’s about time we thank you properly! You’ve become a staple here at Nous, and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
Here’s a time warp of Ed’s work with Nous, starting with Wase in November of 2013, all the way through today. Cheers to you, Ed.
