For any model, making it into the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is a dream come true…so when Danielle Herrington walked into the SI Swim casting call and was chosen to be a #SIswim rookie you can bet we were doing victory laps. We asked Danielle a few questions below about her SI swim experience to get an insider’s look on the famed shoot.
What was the audition process like?
“The audition was really fun–they asked me questions about my personality and hobbies. I absolutely love dancing, so they played music and and asked me to twerk! It was the best audition ever.
How did you prepare for the SI Swim shoot?
I looked at the past issues of SI, made sure I knew my angles, and did a daily workout of running and boxing to keep in shape. Also eating mostly protein and veggies–healthy eating makes a huge difference!
What was your first reaction when you found out you were chosen as a Rookie?
I was in NY at the laundromat when I was called into my agency. My agent seemed really relaxed over the phone so it didn’t seem very important. When I got to the agency all she said to me was “Read this!” It was an email saying I was chosen to be a Rookie in the 2017 swimsuit issue!!!! My first reaction was disbelief. I couldn’t believe that I had only been in NY 6 months and had booked one of my dream jobs! After that I was just really nervous and excited.
How cool was the VIBES festival?
It was amazing! The most exciting part was getting to meet all of the women in the issue, and being able to come together and have such a good time with all of them.
How far was away was the set?
It took me about 20 hours to get to Fiji from NY. It was my first time flying first class, so I enjoyed every second of it! I think I smiled the whole way there! 🙂
What was the best part about shooting in Fiji for SI Swim?
It was only my second time out of the US, so I couldn’t have asked for a better location! The ocean is crystal clear, the people in Fiji were the sweetest and it was so peaceful. Hands down, it was the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.
Do you have any funny stories from being on set?
The photographer, Yu Tsai, is one of a kind! He is crazy in the best way, and so unfiltered, which I love! I got very comfortable with really quickly. The whole team mostly laughed at whatever came out of his mouth.
What was is like to be part of a female-driven body positive shoot team?
It was incredible, everyone was so encouraging! While shooting everyone is working together to get the best shot possible. It was a lot of “YASS GIRL!” comments.
How has your hard work and consistency contributed your success as a model?
Its been the biggest factor of my success. Once I stopped complaining and put in the work it payed off. Consistency is essential–nothing happens over night! Also, keeping a positive mind set is very important. You can’t beat yourself up because things aren’t happening for you when you think it should.
What’s the most important thing you took away from your SI Swim experience?
Beauty come from within, it’s not a size. Most importantly, if you have a dream go for it and don’t give up on yourself. It might not be easy, but it’ll be worth it. I know it’s something people say a lot but it’s so true!”
In addition to being the most anticipated magazine release of the year, this historic issue teamed up with WomenIRL to set a body-positive stage for models of all ages, shapes and nationalities to be recognized for their beauty and strength. Modeling next to the likes of Chrissy Teigen and Kate Upton, Danielle was a newcomer who blew away SI Swim’s team with her incredible talent and professionalism.
Danielle counts her friends and family as her most prized possessions, and credits them for tirelessly supporting her as she follows her dreams. After joining the roster of supermodels who have graced SI Swim’s pages, we can’t wait to see where she goes next. See Daniel’s full SI Swim gallery here, and keep scrolling to see her exclusive spreads in Sports Illustrated!

We’re currently daydreaming of our favorite getaways, where a cool drink rests in hand under the shade of a palm tree. In this month’s center spread of Palm Springs Style, Grace tells a sartorial tale of vacay glamour in Moorten Botanical Gardens. Tailored resort wear and flowing bohemian frocks positively shine against the desert scenery, reminding us that a little metallic accessory can go a long way towards making an ensemble pop. And with outfits this polished, we’ll be sure to take notes for our next weekend trip. In the meantime, we’ll have our eyes glued to Palm Springs Style for more editorials.

The Unexpected Accessory That Makes Any Outfit Pop
When you think of spring, pinks, pastels, and the like probably come to mind. But if your style isn’t overly feminine, what’s a girl to do? The key is to keep your outfit clean and simple, adding hints of color in the form of an unexpected power accessory: your lips. With sunny weather in full swing, there’s no better time than now to play up your pout with COVERGIRL’s Oh Sugar! collection. From layering your shades to creating a just-bitten look, this is how you make your lips the hero of your outfit.
Scroll down for three stylish ways to make your pout stand out.
If you want your lips to be the focal point of your look, opt for a simple silhouette in white, like this dress from the Who What Wear collection exclusively sold at Target.

When wearing neutrals, it’s easy to pile on the jewelry. But in this case, layering necklaces and earrings could distract from your lips. Instead, add a skinny scarf that’ll help keep the attention on your pout.

Using COVERGIRL Oh Sugar! Lipstick in Punch, apply to lips straight from the tube; add multiple layers to give your pout a just-bitten stained effect. The rest of your makeup should be light and natural; after adding a hint of color to your lids, finish your look with multiple coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Full Lash Bloom Mascara to emphasize your lashes and make them stand out.

Last night was a night to be remembered at the highly anticipated first ever “see now, buy now” Alice + Olivia runway show. From the star-studded front row to high-profile Nieman Marcus buyers eyeing limited-edition pieces as they sashayed down the catwalk, the event provided powerful evidence that this new form of fashion commerce strategy is here to stay. Alica + Olivia’s highly coveted Spring 2016 line is a wanderlust fairytale with an elegant and refined twist– floor-length vests, bell bottoms, floral embroidery and delicate chiffon tempered by clean lines, perfect tailoring, and demure hems.
The show concluded with a surreal shower of rose petals falling from the ceiling, descending onto models and noteworthy audience members alike as Benet took a bow.

Among the models who walked, our girls Ashley Moore and Faith Picozzi were granted the good fortune of being featured beyond the scope of the runway and into the festival-wear campaign shot by Jared Kocka. The campaign, much like the runway, features select pieces from Benet’s Grateful Dead capsule line.
We’re keeping our eyes on several key pieces- particularly the Lavergne Asymmetrical Ruffle Layer Gown and the Chloe Embellished Crop Jacket. As if we weren’t excited for Coachella already, this line comes just in time to make our festival-wear wish list! Now, if only a festival fairy godmother could appear and manifest the outfits into our suitcases…

Keeping up with the times in the fitness world is nothing out of the ordinary for a Nous girl. You name it; we’ve done it. So naturally, when we heard that a studio in our neighborhood was the first in Los Angeles to fuse Pilates (our favorite) with a hot yoga room, we had to add it to our been-there-nailed-that list. Challenge accepted.
In an effort to do something fun while also doing something good, we teamed up with Hot Pilates and our favorite athleisure brand Beyond Yoga on special class to raise donations for Back on My Feet, a local Los Angeles-based organization that utilizes a fitness-based program to restore confidence, strength, and self-esteem in homeless individuals, allowing them to be better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes, and new lives.
Celeb trainer Shannon Nadj, who also owns the studio and is basically our new Pilates guru, walked us through the class step by step (she also had quite a good time laughing along at our dramatic pleas for relief, and so did we).
Here’s what we learned: Hot Pilates takes both classic Pilates method classes, and over half a dozen Pilates fusion classes, and steps up the intensity by cranking up the heat. At 90 to 100 degrees, you are pretty much guaranteed to sweat- a lot. Like, a lot, a lot. Which is totally a good thing. You’ll sculpt long and lean muscle while detoxing your body and clarifying your skin. It’s win-win-win, a true triple threat of fitness endeavors.
Back on my Feet is a local Los Angeles-based charity that utilizes a fitness-based program to restore confidence, strength, and self-esteem in homeless individuals, allowing them to be better equipped to tackle the road ahead and move toward jobs, homes, and new lives. They also provide practical training and employment resources for achieving independence; an environment that promotes accountability; and a community that offers compassion and hope. They seek to empower individuals to achieve what once seemed impossible through the seemingly simple act of putting one foot in front of the other.
Sick of standing in front of your closet? So were we — until we saw the newest pieces from Glassons on Jordan Monaghan. Their Velvet Underground lookbook is a dreamy collection of enticing throwbacks à la Penny Lane. Casual blouses and high-waisted skirts are reminiscent of a stroll down the boardwalk at sunset with your favorite tunes in tow.
We adore their delicate dresses and tops: cutouts in all the right places for a seamless day-to-night look. Flirty tie neck tops and swoon-worthy velvet burnout dresses are balanced by luxurious cardigans that are work and play appropriate. But don’t take our word for it — keep scrolling to see how Jordan wears some of our new favorite looks.
