A favorite photographer among our models- and all of us here at Nous HQ- is the one and only Lucas Passmore. His photos are unmistakable: think simple, vulnerable and tastefully sexy all at the same time, which is no small achievement! A master at bringing out the strongest attributes and fierce confidence of every girl he works with, when he’s not testing you can find Lucas shooting for some of our favorite brands like Rails and Chloe Oliver or on the pages of magazines like Bisous, Angeleno, Cosmo or even Maxim!

Lucas’s funny, vibrant and energetic personality is incredibly infectious to everyone around him – ironically, it’s kind of a contrast to his sultry photography style. His ability to capture beauty in it’s most pure form continues to amaze us, so we can easily say that our obsession with Lucas isn’t ending anytime soon (but, we’re more than okay with that).

Thank you Lucas! You have taught our girls so much and provided them with valuable experience that has helped them be the successful women that they are today. We’ve seriously enjoyed the past few years of working with you, and are looking forward to many more to come.

Here at Nous, we’re always on the lookout for new talent of all kinds. Sometimes we find them, and sometimes they find us. This summer, we were lucky enough to be approached by Yazzi Williams, a photography blogger who was in town from Australia. When it comes to a test photoshoot, Yazzi is pretty much a one stop shop! A talented photographer, makeup artist and stylist, we were so thrilled that she wanted to work with us. Bringing out soft, feminine qualities in the girls, and capturing perfect golden hour moments, her work is exactly what we were looking for. During her short stay here, we were able to coordinate eleven beautiful photoshoots. All of our girls loved her, and learned so much from the experience. Yaz, this one’s for you! Thank you so much for all of your hard work; we can’t wait until your next trip out here! Here’s a look at some of our favorite moments. To see more of her amazing work, or if you have any questions for her, check out her blog, Love Yaz Photo.

The ability to capture a model’s personality through a photograph is something Martin Rusch has down to a T. Paired with great natural lighting and a cool mix of backdrops, the results will leave you wanting even more (as we constantly do!). Needless to say we are in love. Thank you, Martin for your beautiful work!

Ed, words can’t describe how much we love you, and love working with you. Over the last year we’ve laughed, grown, oo-ed and ah-ed at your fantastic work, and it’s about time we thank you properly! You’ve become a staple here at Nous, and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

Here’s a time warp of Ed’s work with Nous, starting with Wase in November of 2013, all the way through today. Cheers to you, Ed.

Yves is no stranger to working with our girls, or to making amazing videos.  You may have already seen us feature his video, Dancing With Alexis Ren, on our Facebook.  This time around Yves came to us inspired by a Vogue Italia video.  We LOVE everything Yves, so of course we were totally on board.  Check out his truly amazing rendition of what we think will be the next big thing for the modeling industry, moving comp cards.  We’re so excited to say that this one is just a teaser of more to come!  First up, Davia and Lyzy.

About Yves

“I am a Fashion / Editorial photographer in Los Angeles, graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I’ve been a working photographer for 3 years, and I actually started at first in product photography needless to say it was a bit boring! My main focus of my work is the more portrait and beauty side of fashion photography. I also run a studio called Black Sock Studio where I do more advertising and commercial focused work when I’m not shooting more fashion editorial work. Oh and my photography icons are Richard Avedon, Steven Meisel, Herb Ritts and of course I would love the career of VS photographer Russell James!”

Summer may technically be ending, but that doesn’t mean that we’re tired of looking at beach photo shoots. I mean, this is California after all! We’re all about the sandy feet and salty hair. Davia (@davia_gomez) gave us an inside perspective of her shoot with German photographer, Max Motel (@maxmotel). Read all about what really went into getting these gorgeous photos below.

“3 o’clock in the afternoon I was struggling to find parking in a dirt lot at El Matador State Beach. Finally I see a tiny spot and decide to try to squeeze in my car, and to my luck that is how I met Max. He was in the car I was going to box in (oops)! A friendly guy with an accent came out of his car and said, “You must be Davia”. Right off the bat there was great energy between us. After that he helped me squeeze my car in the spot and we were ready to get shooting! I opened my trunk and we rummaged through the suitcase of clothes I had brought to the shoot. After picking what we agreed to be our favorite looks we headed down the dirt trail to the beach. You couldn’t pick a more beautiful walk looking down at clear water, white sand, and feeling a refreshing breeze.

As we approached the beach we had noticed the tide had gotten high so we had no choice but to jump in the water and start shooting right away. Shooting in the water was full of laughs as neither of us had been there or knew the extent to how rocky it was, I’m positive I couldn’t count how many times each of us tripped! Max was incredible to shoot with, super easy going and fun. It felt less like being at a shoot and more just like being at the beach with a friend. He used a disposable underwater camera with which we took candid shots playing in the waves, laughing, and splashing around the water.

Disposable

After playing in the water a bit, the tide came up too high and we had to relocate. We found a high rock that rose above the tide and climbed it. Up there it was a little chilly as the wind picked up and the sun started to set. Lucky for me I was with a nice photographer who let me shoot with a towel wrapped around me until the sun was perfect!

Around 7 the sun had almost set, making a pink glow in the sky. So we decided for our last hour to hop back in the water and catch the light. When it all faded we walked back to our cars. I had such a fun day but how could I have not because when you live in California! Nothing beats being in the ocean, and when you’re modeling nothing beats working with a great photographer.”

Here are some of the images Davia and Max captured from their Malibu rendez-vous!

Photographer Maximilian Motel is currently based in Berlin, but tries to spend as much time as possible in Los Angeles- which he fell in love with a couple of years ago. His work consists largely of portraiture, ranging from street portraits taken in LA and NYC to fashion portraits.

Playing in the sun like a meadow fairy, Alex Long (@allotree) glows in this editorial shot exclusively for Nouszine by photographer Steve Fan (@stevefanfotos).

Shot on a perfectly sunny day in Malibu, California, Alex and Steve had endless space to play. There was no one around, and they got to spend hours getting the sunlight to shine through her hair just right.

We spoke to Alex for a little behind the scenes on the shoot:

Nous: How much planning went into this shoot?

AlexThis shoot was really easy for me to get ready for. Because it was outside, I knew it would be pretty low maintenance for my hair and make up. I spent a couple hours going through my closet  making sure I had enough options. My entire trunk was full of clothes, so I probably over did it!

N: Are there any problems that come up when you shoot in nature?

AThe bugs. That’s it. I can handle almost anything else but the bugs, no. Other than that, I love shooting in nature! I feel very comfortable and connected when I’m outside so getting “in the mood” isn’t hard.

N: How was it shooting with Steve?

ASteve is awesome to work with. He is very down-to-earth and low maintenance. He gave great direction that really complimented the location and was able to capture these perfect moments.

Perfection, indeed. Check out the rest of the editorial below!
