“Having the opportunity to live and work in Thailand for three months was absolutely one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. It was a little scary at first because I really had no idea what to expect, but that is also what made the trip so amazing!
I arrived in Bangkok at around 11pm and was greeted at the airport by one of my agents. I am still so grateful for that because after my 16hr flight, I was exhausted. We went straight to the model apartment, I got the chance to meet all of my housemates and then I was off to bed.
The next morning I was already off to my first casting so I didn’t have much time to settle in or buy groceries. It was so perfect because literally as soon as I walked down our street to the main road there was so much food! I mean, street vendors everywhere selling pretty much anything you can think of for super cheap. Definitely one of my favorite things about Thailand… the food! I was hungry and wanted to grab a quick breakfast before my casting. It was so nice to be able to have fresh coconut water and a little bag of mixed fruit for less than $1!
The castings in Bangkok are also a lot different than L.A. They do your hair and makeup at each casting, so sometimes it can end up taking anywhere from 1-7 hours (I was at a casting for 7 hours one time; it was crazy!). After my first casting I decided to explore a little. I was beyond excited to be in such a beautiful and tropical place. Another wonderful little thing about Bangkok is the transportation. It is so easy and inexpensive to get around. The majority of the time I would take a motorbike taxi because they are so fun, cheap and you never have to sit in traffic.
Whenever the housemates and I had some free time we would try and go to as many markets as we could because there are so many all over the city. One of my favorites was the night market. There was so much good food, vintage clothing, jewelry, live music and the atmosphere was just really cool.
Bangkok is such an amazing city full of life and culture. It is crazy but beautiful and hard not to fall in love with. The best mornings were the ones I would spend on the balcony at the model apartment…it was my lovely little sanctuary before a long day at work or castings.
The first job I booked was a wedding shoot. There was such a fun team and we got to shoot at the beautiful Amari Hotel. This was my favorite dress, I loved how long the train was. Guests that were staying at the hotel kept congratulating the ‘groom’ and I, we thought it was pretty funny and after a while we would just smile and say thank you.
During my last week in Thailand I took a little two-day trip to this little island called Ko Samet. This was absolutely the most beautiful place I have ever seen. The beaches all had white sand, the water was crystal clear and it was pretty much heaven on earth.
Buying my breakfast from this nice man before a long day of swimming and adventuring around the island! Being at the beach was so nice and definitely the perfect end to my trip. I fell in love with everything! The people, the food, the language and the beauty in nature everywhere…I can’t wait to go back someday!”
